2 year old pomeranian male not potty trained

My neighbors 2 year old male Pomeranian is not house trained. I sit for him and when he is in my house I can't relax - must watch him constantly. Is it too late for him to learn a ritual for going outside?

My place or theirs?

I understand your frustration, but I think Mary was genuinely trying to give advice and was surprised that by age 2 this dog isn't getting it. Perhaps the dog is confused because of the new environment.

I dog-sit for my parent's Poms and I do it at their house because I'd rather they piss on their stuff than mine (and they piss on their own stuff ALL the time - will not go out in the rain to go potty at ALL). Yes, it's a pain, but I do it because they're family. If it's that big a pain to dog-sit for your neighbor, just say no.

Another alternative I have used when I have HAD to have them at my house is to put let them roam only in tiled areas and put up baby gates to keep them in there, or crate them and take them out for play/interactive time only when you can keep an eye on them.

It does take the dogs a while to learn their new environment, and if you have dogs of your own they may be peeing on things to mark the territory.

Good Lord...2 years and not trained??? I suggest when you sit for him to do it at their house...That would help you relax a little bit. I'm sure their house is not spotless anymore...Good luck....Mary
