nature vs. ethical reasons
by: pomfan

In the wild, dogs are known to have heat cycles throughout their lives. That being said, they can get pregnant if mated when in "season". I can only surmise that that's what nature intended for them. But as poms are "designer dogs" (and much of the "original/wild characteristics have been altered to create the breed) the "natural law" may no longer apply. Canine clubs also have "rules" that prohibit registering "litters" whelped by bitches of a certain age. You may want to look into this as well if you plan to register your litter. That being said, please oblige me a reminder for you to carefully consider the reasons for breeding your pom as there are attendant risks to any pregnancy and there are simply too many unwanted pups already. good luck!

breeding your dog

Dogs lives are aproximately one dog year equals 7 human years...how would you like to be pregnant at 63 years old..Use your brain and let the poor dog rest.
