Best time to start training

Hello everybody.

I just bought a purebred pom yesterday as my first dog. I am a single 25 year old male with a apartment and lots of space outside to run (by the beach). I just wanted to know when is the best time to start training them, i.e commands, potty training, walks, etc..) He is only 8 weeks old. I put down a peepad last night and he was good peeing and pooping in it, even though some times he needed some direction. I let him sleep in my bed and he soiled it once, but other than that he woke me up most of the time.

And any other tips you have for a new pom owner? We are romping around together right now. Going to get the rest of his supplies today at petco, he will come with me in my jacket lol.
