She can cope.

Hello. There is no such thing as a "toy" pomeranian. Very small pomeranians occasionally occur from a breeding of standard size poms, but almost always are a result of breeding "down" for a smaller dog.

As to your question, yes a very small pom can whelp a standard size pom, and usually with no problems whatsoever. As a general rule of thumb, to prevent problems, I only breed my bitches (5 and 5 1/2 lbs.) to a stud no larger the same size or smaller.

Additionally, you can find a great deal of information about potential dangers involved in breeding your bitch in a variety of places online. You may want to consult with your vet first as well. You would want him or her to be prepared for a possible call from you at any rate should something go wrong when your bitch whelps.

Please do as much research as possible before deciding whether to breed your Pom. She's precious to you, I'm sure. It's important that you be as educated about the breeding/whelping processes as possible. The knowledge you gain will be not only generally helpful, but may save her life and that of the pups should there be a problem.

ed. - very nicely stated, Kelley!
