Creative Housetraining Suggestions Needed

Even the monkey is tired of the smell!

I'm in a new relationship and she inherited her Pom when her mom died. Problem is, the poor thing was never housebroken. He has training pads covering the floor in one room... And that is where he goes.

We have started to train him now, and have closed off the room where he used to go. It's going on 24 hours and he hasn't pooped at all, refusing to do it outside.

Can anyone give me any suggestions, other than the ones on all the potty-training sites?

Keep a close eye...

Even though he hasn't pooped for a while doesn't mean he isn't going, and it will probably be the minute you turn your back on him. If you let him get away with it once, then he will do it every time. Poms can be evil like that sometimes. Best thing to do, is when you finally see him squatting, is just yell NO! NO POOP!, and pick him up, even if he is mid dump and put him outside until he finishes. Make sure to take him out the same door, and reward him with praise or treats when he does go, and before you know it he will be scratching at the door every time he has to go. Good luck!
