Darla

Darla is about 9 weeks old and the cutest little Yorkie-Pom puppy!! She's a rescue dog, taken from a puppy mill in Missouri...and brought to a shelter in Vermont. We saw her picture on the shelter's website and immediately applied to adopt her! She was so cute, how could we resist? We currently have 2 yorkies, love their personality, and though it was about time they got a new playmate. Out of all the applicants we can't believe we were the lucky chosen family to adopt Darla! (We were told over 300 people applied to adopt!!) She is a little less than 2 lbs. now...but looks like she'd weight more because of all that extra fluff! Her father is a 4 lb. pom and her mother a 7 lb. yorkie so she won't be getting too much bigger.

We've only had her a week and are really enjoying her! She is absolutely adorable and has a wonderful temperment, she's extremely friendly and loves both people and other dogs. We have to always watch her because she's a little dare devil and is always getting into trouble! (attempting to climb and jump off of things!!) She's fiesty and sweet, best of both worlds...teething is an issue now, so we have to always keep an eye on the furniture and our sneakers, but she'll learn. We are of course working on the house training as well. (She's doing well!!) We are looking forward to years of fun with this cutie!!!

**I have so many adorable pictures of Darla, it was so hard to choose just one to post!!**

Give the puppy some toys for her to chew on and make a big thing out of it when you give her a new one. My doggie was always getting into my basket of toy sock monkeys setting on the floor in my living room. When I started giving hhim toys of his own and really making a big thing out of giving him a gift he no longer bothered my stuff and just played with his things. I put a low box in the kitchen next to his kennel to hold his toys and also into the kennel with him so he had them handy. Soon we didn't even put him into the kennel...as soon as he was house trained he had the run of the place.
