diabetes in pomeranian

my 8yr old pom started losing hair. With blood work it was decided she has diabetes, but using insulin twice daily has not brought down her sugar level much. should i keep doing this or let her be happy?

I'm not sure about poms, but my Rott has diabetes, and we had to take her back to the vet every 2 wks for the first few months so they could do a blood workup on her to get the correct dosage..Her blood sugar is fine now, but it did take alot of visits to the vet at first and was expensive..You could call your vet and ask what to do..Once you get it controlled, it's really not a problem w/ the shots and test strips..Good luck..
