Does spaying your Pom cause hair loss?

My Pomeranian had a gorgeous coat until just recently. She is 3 years old we were going back and forth on whether or not to spay her. We finally agreed that it would be better for her to be spayed. After we did, I've noticed large clumps of hair falling out.

I know about "summer shedding" and that (they need to shed their winter coat to be cooler for summer). However she has already gone through her puppy stage of shedding hair and had already shed last summer and still had most of her coat. I know it is not a flea reaction because I treat her monthly for fleas and I bathe and brush her often enough to catch it. (About every 3 wks she gets a bath).

Also, I've heard about alopecia and I don't see any abnormal pigmentation on her to justify calling it that. Should I wait and see if she gets better or is this more serious than I think?

Hair loss

My Phoebe has the same problem. Just loss of under hair for past 9 months. She is 9 years old this month. Other wise healthy and no itching or scratching. Small trachea. Took her off of all treats (from China) and kept her on Science Diet dry food and treats and it hasn't made a difference.
