feeding

Hi i have recently adopted Bo a 9 month old pom from a family who could not look after him properly and he was been overlooked as they had 2 other huge dogs (lurchers). His previous owner was feeding him cheap supermarket dried food which i immediately discarded. I have been feeding him Iams puppy/small dog food. However i have heard loads of conflicting reports on this food some good, some bad, some scary and i am now confused and worried!!! Is this food safe and ok to feed to Bo or should i give him something else? He enjoys the Iams and seems ok with it no ill side effects to report but i would really appreciate some advice, kindest regards Bo`s new mum

My sister has used Iams for many years on her dogs and they are fine and healthy. We use Purina One and it now has a brand this is small kiplets which works well for my Pomeranian Sheltie mix breed. A couple times a week we give a little can food (also Purina One) mixed with the One dry for a little added treat. Our dogs love it and it was recommended by the vet many years ago. A sure way to get up to date information is just to ask your vet.

I would use Purina Puppy Chow, just recently my breeder suggested Purina food (she had changed brands from the time I got my furbaby, finding Purina to have better ingredients & nutrition). I use Purina One Senior for my 7 yr old pom and she loves it. She had a food allergy to another brand she had been on since a puppy and it has made a difference. Don't over feed. Vets told me to give less than directed on any dog food package. Dry dog food is better for them.
