Going on potty pads - Now moves his poo

We've been successfully training our 7 mo pom on the potty pads since we got him in December. We have been able to let him roam our 546 sq ft studio while we are at work, and we come home to check on him throughout the work day. He goes on his pads, but now he has a new habit he created. He flips up the corners of his pad (because he sees us picking up his pads when they are soiled) and now he is picking up his poo and moving it by the door. This is not only disgusting, but a very strange habit. Anybody have suggestions?
