Gucci

We got Gucci In Jan 2010, and he was 9 weeks old, and weighed 3 pounds. He has papers stating he is a Purebred Pom, but he is now 5 months and weighs over 8 pounds, we have had Poms in the past and he does not look like a Pom, I came across the Pomimo and he looks more like this. I will attach a picture, you can be the judge, but I am almost certain he is a Pomimo...why woudn't they tell us though?

I got him from Purebred Breeders.com because we recently lost our beloved pet of 4 years to a vicious dog attack, so I wanted another Pom, and they assured me he was Purebred. Take a look.

I love him and our family loves him, but I wanted a small dog. He is very playful and we will always love him, but I don't understand how a breeder can get away with this. I have papers and everything! But he is already almost 9 pounds and only 5 months and he does not have the coat the Poms have~

We love him!

Large Pom Owner

I have a purebred Pom that is 27 lbs. @ 11 months. I know both the father & mother & he is all Pom. Father is championship bloodline and in 10 litters there has never been one that big. I knew he would be bigger because he was twice the size of his litter mates. I fell in love with him & I didn't really want a lap dog so that suited me just fine. I am told that he is a Throwback Pom. If you look into the history of Poms they are descentants of much larger 30-40 pound dogs. Man has breed them down to be the toy dogs that they are now. I know it has been some time since you first posted. I just wanted to share my story so that maybe it would give you some understanding of the breed. Here are some sites that you can look into the breed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomeranian_(dog)

Understand

Yeah, Bailey is...we don't know what Bailey is. We didn't figure he was full pom when we got him from the Shelter because he's 11 lbs. He looks a lot like your pup. However, we have a pure blooded Sheltie who is 40 lbs (and they're not supposed to be over 30). She's taller and stockier than most Shelties, but she's a pure breed. It's just one of those phenomenons I guess

Who is the breeder/
by: Anonymous

I have had the same experience and my dog looks like your dog. I got him from a breeder in Texas. I have had poms all my life and my new pom does not have the same temp. as my past poms. He actually destroyed my box spring and tears everything apart. Are you dealing with that too?

I KNOW HOW
by: NICOLE

Hello let me start off by saying your dog is very gorgeous and i no you love him very much but unfortunately you probably fell ripped off. I know how the breeder gave you pure bred papers and its not hard at all to do. Since they are a breeder, and they have Pomeranian adults with papers. They breed the adults and have puppies with papers but they order extras. The (AKC, UKC, OR OTHER PEDIGREES DO NOT CHECK UP ON THE DNA OF THE PUPS!) So you can go to the vet and have a DNA done on Gucci and if he is not pure breed, i would sue if you had the information on the breeders. You could at lest get your money back and hopefully stop them from doing the same thing to others. I hope this helps you and good luck.

mix breed

He still reminds me of my Pom/Sheltie mix. The long legs sound like it too. If you can find Michaela on the Poshie page (that is what the Pom/Sheltie is referred to) you might see the resemblance. My little dog is so sweet. Mix breed or not I would not trade her for a full blood Pom; she is just wonderful, long legs, longer snout and all. :)

We will absolutely keep him, we love him so much, he is really sweet..his snout is very long..and he has bigger paws and no hair on his legs. I will post more pics and you can tell me your thoughts, he is beautiful and we love him so much, we would never get rid of him. He just doesn't have the Pom look, he has long legs, short coat, long snout..we have another Pom and he is already bigger then her and she is 3, he is only 5 months! I will put up more pics.I think he is a Pomimo.

I have a 5 month old pom that is pretty small but I also have a "toy" poodle that weighs 17 lbs. I know how you feel! I knew when she passed her toy adult weight at 4 months we were in for a big girl. Some breeders are very honest but too many are in it for the money only.

pretty dog
by: Debbie

Your dog is very pretty. Obvioulsy they thought he would sell faster and get more money if he was a thorough bred. I don't know how they produced the papers. I have mix breed Pom with Sheltie and he favors my dog. Mine grew to only 12 1/2 pounds and she is so sweet. I kinda like her a little bigger than a purebred pom. You just feel cheated because you were lied to and that's understandable. I hope you still keep him. He sure is pretty.
