Hair loss after whelping

My pomeranian had 4 beautiful puppies last April 4th. She maintained lovely condition throughout her pregnancy and all the time she was feeding. We fed her on a high quality puppy food.

However over the past couple of weeks (since the babies left home) she has lost almost all of her coat and now resembles a cross between a pom and a chinese crested! (slight exaggeration). Can anyone recommend any kind of diet or supplement to restore her coat? Should I bathe her more?

I have the same situation, my Pom has lost too much hair as well. As you can see, the short hair is the one they loose. I heard it will take them a good 5 or 6 months to regain their hair.

Pomeranian Hair Loss after Whelping

It's pretty common for a dog to lose her hair after whelping. Keep her on a good quality diet. If you want to supplement, additional essential fatty acids may help. EFAs can be purchased over the counter, or consider adding eggs or fish to her diet.

Also, if there is any scratching, itching, red spots, etc., the hair loss is prolonged, or any other symptoms develop, be sure to consult your vet.
