Have you guys tried puppy pad training??

I have three Pomeranians and each one has been so easy to train using puppy pads. My latest, who is just 13 weeks old is clean already and uses the pads only if she can't get out the door to the garden. I have found Poms by far the easiest of all dogs to housetrain - they are so smart and pick up commands so easily :o)

My pomeranian puppy, Fox, uses the pads reliably. He has never given me any trouble and is very clean. I am unsure about trying to transition him outside and wondering if I should just accept him as a litter trained dog ( he will use a pad in a box) rather than having him pee all over the rugs and carpets when I take the pads away.... I don't know...My 5 yo dog will pee on the bath mat to this day and we never used pee pads with her, but now that Fox has his she stopped doing that and is using his pee pads too. I think maybe I should just let them both use them?

Puppy Pads

We tried it and got them to successfully use the pads, but once we tried to transition them to outdoors, they began going on any throw rugs, bath mats, etc.. Seems that once they started going on a 'pad', they always looked for any other 'pad' as an alternative, especially if it's raining outside. ;-)
