house breaking a puppy mill rescue

by Stephanie
(N.Y.)

I recently adopted a 1 year old male neutered Pomeranian. He was rescued from a puppy mill along with 54 other dogs. He does not know any of the normal things a dog of this age would know. I am having a great deal of trouble housebreaking him. I take him out at least every 2 hours. He does go outside but he also will piddle in the house and in his crate overnight. He also eats his stools sometimes. He is otherwise healthy, adorable and very affectionate. My husband and I adore this dog. I also have 2 other dogs that are totally trained so I don't know where the problem is. I love this dog but it is driving me crazy. I don't know what to do? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

It's never 100%

Most dogs will never be totally house trained. There will always be a little accident here or there. Nothing to worry bout though.

I also rescued a one year old pom from a pupy mill.. she soiled in the house and soiled in her crate she was terrified.. I started feeding her in the crate and massage before i put her in it to calm her down.. It worked for us, all i know about them eating there fecies is that they could be lacking something in there diet try a better food or bananas are supposed to be really great. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

potty training

Thats one of the quirks to owning a pomerainian....
My dog is eleven months and is 99 percent potty train but still at times will go in the house for no apparent reason...maybe the kennel u have is too big your dog only needs room to turn around but not much else....but keep at it will get better....
