How can I get my Pomeranian to stop barking at everything?

My 10 month old Pomeranian barks at everything! We just adopted him from the shelter because he was so incredibly sweet and believe it or not didn't bark at all when we were there. We were so naive, just fell in love with him and had no idea about Pomeranian's. The reason I'm asking is because we live in an apartment in a busy neighborhood and his barking seriously can't continue. If it stays out of control our landlord might force us to give him up. I don't want him to have to go back to the shelter but at the same time, ugh, help me!

truly, my dog is a shelter dog. we're learning that a few "talking" barks are ok, but that constant barking is unnecessary. All i was asking for, and all i think the original poster was asking for, was any suggestions about how to quiet him down. i was well aware that dogs bark and nip.

Mine is the same

My Bella 3years old all white female did the same thing, but what really helps is very long walks 1 after work 4pm and one before bed to relax her about 10-1030. Try that and some very tough love - you have to let them know whos the boss. I can get her to stop barking outside when she sees another dog but my poor wife cannot (too nice). I will return to finish this - duty calls - I'm a professional Chef got to cook NOW.

Sounds like you wanted a perfect dog that does not bark or nip., it did come from a shelter. Try a little love an don't push it away give it a toy to play with and give it some time to adjust to its new surroundings. Did you ask why it came to the shelter was it abused ? It takes time and LOVE. Good luck I hope it works out for you.
