How do I help my dog?

I have a 5 year old Pomeranian. He is fine one minute and then just snaps and flips out the next. Sometimes he will sit next to us on the couch and is fine, but other times you move to grab a magazine or piece of paper and he goes into a fit and gets crazy and bites. When he doesn't want to do something you ask of him he gets a very mean growl/bark and if you try to touch him he will bite you. I do not know how to make him stop having fits and biting people. We now have a new baby that comes over and we are afraid he will end up hurting her. We don't want to get rid of him but we don't know what to do or how to help him.

the only solution is to put a muzzle on the dog or else to put him in the kennel when company comes to your house
