I have a 7month old pom. I feed him dry food because can food can cause tooth loss. But once a week I feed him can food with dry food as a treat and he loves it. I free feed - meaning that I leave the unfinished portion until the next feeding in the late afternoon. Then I discard the morning unfinished portion and serve the next feeding. I feed him in the morning and in the late afternoon. Some people feed on schedule and if the dog doesn't eat his food within 15-20 minutes they discard the unfinished portion. Since I feed dry food, it doesn't spoil easily and I prefer to leave it and let him decide when he wants to eat. If your pom is not potty trained this free feed method can make it a little bit harder because you have to take him to his potty about 20 minutes after eating and he can nibble throughout the day. I tried several brands of dry food (blue buffalo, natural balance, diamond, beneful, Merrick). Hi favorite is Puppy Plate by Merrick. Good Luck!
