Hurt Spine

My 2 year old male jumped off the sofa onto my wood floor and skidded along a little way. The next day he couldn't even lift his head up let alone raise his body, so I rushed him to the vet who said he had damaged his spine. He was given a steroid injection and pills to be taken for a couple of days and I was told he must not do any exercise for two weeks. He is still lying in his bed and will cannot get up and has a raspy cough.

He is eating when I feed him while he is on his side but coughs badly when I can get some water down him. I am really worried..should I continue with his pills or go back to the vet?
