I think my Pom is dying. Please help.

I've had my Pomeranian since I was 13 years old, She was just a puppy when my parents bought her for me for Christmas. She was healthy and happy up until she turned a year old. She had was attacked by a pitbull, she was very scared. My parents took her to an animal hospital after she was attacked. He gave her medicine and said she would be fine. Over the last four years, I don't think she has been fine. She barks at everyone, She doesn't ever want to go outside. When ever someone comes near me, She growls. She just turned six years old this past November 2011.

Since December 2011, She has been losing weight, losing fur, along with just sleeping all the time. She eats all the time, she also drinks all the time. Its gotten to the point where I can feel her bones and see her skin because she is loosing her fur. I'm afraid to take her to a vet. I'm scared they will tell me she is either sick, or dying. That's not something I want to hear. Is the loosing weight and fur just normal? Or is she really sick?

My Pom is dying
by: Donna

It's February 28, 2012 I hope by now you have taken your dog to the vet.
What your describing sounds like diabetes. My Pom has it and those are the symptoms. I don't understand why you would watch it lose weight, lose hair, pee all over and not get her or him checked. Sorry but I really have no patience for neglect.
Your Pom will die if you don't get him to the vet.
Sorry again, but get it together and grow up.

Diabetes most likely
by: Julie

Poms are very protective of their pack leader and always trying to prove their loyalty. Fear of the diagnosis should not over-ride your loyalty to your little dog. Take your wee friend to the vet. If it is diabetes and you didn't wait too long, you may have to give her some inexpensive meds (forever) or more costly shots. If she is losign weight and fur, it is very stressful and she is in pain. And if you waited too long, the vet may suggest pain meds to help ease her into a silent permanent sleep. Don't let her suffer for your fear.

Go to the vet!!
by: ann

Get this Pom to the vets today.
There is no treatment that you can do yourself this dog is ill and needs to see a vet ASAP.

You go to a doctor/dentist etc when in pain or ill
so your dog should see a vet. If cost is a worry
get the dog seen first then talk money.

what?!
by: Jackie K

How can you not take your pet to the vet to have them check your dog out?! As a doggie parent we must do what is difficult for us, but YOU must your dog's voice as it cannot tell you what is wrong. PLEASE FOR GOD'S sake put your feelings aside as hard as it may be and TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET! If you REALLY love your pom, YOU will find the courage to do this, DONT LET IT SUFFER!
