Jackaranian named Buddy (Jack Russel Terrier/Pomeranian)

by Mary Liegel
(Spring Green, Wis. USA)

Got Buddy from the vet when he was about 8 weeks old...he was abandoned there. Two years later we had a DNA test done on him to determine his breed. He is a wonderful even tempered dog but is full of energy to play and loves toys. He loves to be petted and loved...especially at certain times..like after supper before bedtime. He looks like a little trotter when he walks fast. He has an "air" about his look. He doesn't mind being left at home if we go away. He is content to pass time by himself. Loves to sit on the bed and "guard" by looking out the window. He will bark at any person with a dog even if it is across the street.Loves to be bathed and dryed and made pretty...he KNOWS when he is pretty and will act accordingly. A very loving dog. We have another much older dog that is a rat terrier/chihuahua mix. She is friendly but more demanding and bossy. She is a wonderful pet also but very different temperament from the other dog. She was hurt very badly when she was young and went through a difficult and long recovery and I'm afraid she is very spoiled by us because of it. And she KNOWS it...She is very smart and was very easy to train to do many tricks. Both dogs are very good around children although we have no young children in the household. But we do have grandchildren that come. The dogs are good to take to visit at the nursing home with elderly patients and like to preform their tricks for them. I would recommend both breeds for house dogs.

I am so in love with this precious dog! She is so smart
and I have never seen a more loving dog in my life! She
actually puts both paws around your neck and hugs you.
It's the cutest thing I've ever seen! If you are considering owning one of these don't hesitate! You will
instantly fall in love!

Love Jackaranians!
by: deepee

We were given a little girl, Pippa (or Pippy), when her guardians were relocating overseas. How fortunate for us! What a delight these little dogs are! And so intelligent! We've had her three years now and she is coming up to 10 years old, but still very much a puppy at heart. Love these dogs! They are so delightful and love cuddles and attention, and Pippy would have to be the best behaved and intelligent dog I've come across! (Not being biased, or anything!)

MALIBU
by: Michael

Malibu is the cutest little thing! She loves kissing and, kinda weird she loves sticking her tongue in peoples nose! its actually really funny. She has had a rough 1st year as her back legs have given her problems but now she is healthy and happy. Although her tiny size she is very protective and will stand up to anyone.
She loves playing other dogs but gets mad when you take her away from her play friends.
My wife and i love her and don't know what we would do without her in our lives!!!

Just Got My Jackaranian
by: Jessica

I just got my puppy today. She's not house trained yet, but she's very intelligent and is already picking up that she can't go potty in the house, she whined and ran to the door last time she had to go! I'm so glad I decided on her! She's an absolute lover!

Year Old Jackaranian
by: Izzy

Our pup is just over a year old now. I wouldn't trade her for the world, but being both Jack Russell and Pomeranian, you get yappyness and playfulness all rolled into one. She has the sweetest face and still looks like a 3 month old pup, but her energy can sometimes be hard to handle. She will sometimes tire out and those moments when she is all cuddly and dopey are lovely. Shes a sweet dog but it isn't recommended unless you can take full care of them. Plus, she has a severe case of seperation anxiety, and won't let us leave the house without barking for hours. She is in training to get rid of this but it isn't going to be easy.

She's worth it though! :)

New Owner Of Jackaranian
by: Linda

I have had my Jackaranian for about 3 months. I love her to pieces. Her name is Libby Lou. She is very loyal and loves to be around people. She is not one to spend time by herself. We are still working on the potty training. She was doing so well and the last couple of days have been a headache. But all in all, I wouldn't trade her for the world. She has the sweetest little face I have ever seen. That is what I feel in love with and just had to have her.

Jackaranian
by: Lilnub80

My Jackaranian is 4 months old and the sweetest thing ever!! She is very well behaved and has a good temperament. Chloe absolutely loves people and is very affectionate! She loves to play but isn't overly hyper at all. I'm actually going to have her become a Therapy dog once she is ten months and able to go to the class. I would definitely recommend this breed to anyone!!

My Little Jackaranian
by: Carol

I am not going to lie; Lucy (jackaranian) is sort of a ball of energy- a "spitfire" as the vet's office put it. She is a sweetheart- Lucy is so attentive and she is always interested in what we are doing. She loves to cuddle and just loves people! I would say she gets along with other dogs too.

You just need to be a little strict while he/she is young and it also needs to know who's boss from the beginning. I have read a lot about both breeds (Jack Russells and Poms) and from what I understand they usually have a mind of their own.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Jackaranian
by: Anonymous

I love ours. Not hard to deal with at all. Very loving. Not any more lively than any other dog at that age and mine is now 2 1/2 yrs old. He is a very good behaving dog...better than my rat terrior/chichuachua for behavior. I highly reccomend one. I would have more of them if I were allowed but where we live only 2 dogs are allowed....Mary Liegel

by: Ann

I am nervious about getting a Jackaranian because I am hearing they are hard to train and to much energy to handle. The one we are considering is 8 weeks old. I need all the help I can get to help me decide.
