Just home from the vet.
We adopted a beautiful three year old Pom. three weeks ago.
She is the sweetest little dog and is very loved by our entire family.
Two days ago we had to have her spayed (adoption contract) by the same clinic that we adopted her from.
Our family was heartbroken bringing her back to the clinic, and seeing our little girl shaking when we walked in the door was wrenching for all of us.
Well we picked her up from the clinic yesterday with a cone around her head.
I was told she had not eaten (two days total)
Now it is the third day with no food, drinking very little.
She is also yelping on and off which absolutely freaks out the entire family. We dont want her hurting! (first time dog owners)
We were given pain meds but odd enough she yelping more about an hour after given it.
Here it is the third day after surgery, second day home, and she still wont eat dog food. I was told by the vet to not give her the usual cooked chicken and brown rice (she loves it!)
to only stick to dry dog food for ten days.
I know our dog will eat wet food, cooked food, but the vet said no.
In the meantime my little girl needs to eat...right?
She also hardly moves around, just lays and stares at us all with her beautiful little eyes.
Her spunk is completely gone, she seems depressed and frightened, shaking on and off, hates the cone around her head, yelps on and off, not eating but drinking a little water.
Is this all normal? Should we not give her the pain meds?Any food ideas? When will she not be in pain anymore?
I hate to see our little girl in so much distress...please help
