Leo

by Maggie
(IL)

Leo is a lively tawny mix of miniature poodle and Pomeranian. He has apricot "boots" and bright brown button eyes. He was adopted from a pet shelter by us at age seven months. Right now he is age three.
Prior to the adoption, Leo was in an unfortunate Missouri puppy mill that could not/would not provide medical care.
The puppy mill breeder & this very sick puppy were met by arrangement on a highway in Missouri by pet shelter volunteers and carted away promptly to IL to be nursed back to health for 2 months until ready for adoption. Leo enjoys good health now. He weighs about ten lbs.
He is still skittish about sudden noises, newspapers, and strangers-- probably due to early unknown trauma at the puppy factory mill? After some months with us and lots of patience, gentle coaxing and love, he finally felt more relaxed, safe and cozy. Leo is a leader.
We have two other dogs, who know that Leo is the boss.
Leo is alert, quick, smart, and playful with our toy poodle.
He loves to walk around the house with a fuzzy toy in his mouth.
He sleeps very well at night in his wicker crate with soft pillows in our bedroom.
He enjoys his kibble and
dog treats and soft, fuzzy toys. I love it when he puts his two front paws on my knee, and looks up at me with those cute button eyes.
