Lethargic Pomeranian

by Garry Rainey
(atlanta ga)

Just started this morning, he didn't want to climb up the stairs and has NO appetite........very unusual!

He can walk around but seems a little unsteady.......just wants to lay around.
Nose isn't cold or hot
Stares into space.........I don't know what to do
Should I take him to Emergency?

Low Blood Sugar...watch out
by: Anonymous

Lethargy may also signal low blood sugar. With my Pom, I mix a small amount (1/2 teaspoon) of sugar to her water bowl (about 1/2 cup). This gives me the reassurance that she is getting what she needs as far as "additional"sugar is concerned. I feed her the Alpo ground formula 5 X daily, but still her sugar dropped. She was absolutley listless and really had me freaking out. The onslaught was extremely quick and I did not have immediate access to a vet (late in the evening-rural area). Whenever my girl starts acting "droopy", I'll let her lick a dab of honey from my fingertip. I didn't realize hypoglocemia was so frequently seen in smaller breeds.

Glad to hear he is OK. Hope he doesn't have to have 'bed rest' for too long. :-)

Brutus is OK Now
by: Garry Rainey

Ended up taking him to the doctor and discovered that he has a slipped disk.............too much running around and jumping off bed, sofa etc........They gave him some anti inflamatory pills and he is FINE
I'm just gonna keep him from too much ruff play.
