Male pom house training vs female????

This is Pinot, our 7 month old babe!

We just adopted a 7 month old male Pom and we are house training him. Even though we kind of got a late start on the training, he was really good for the first couple of days and now he's messing in the house a couple times a week. Is this normal and if so how long should it take a 7 month old to become properly house trained?

His sister was also adopted from the Humane Society and her owner told me she has never had an accident, she even sits by the door and barks when she needs to be let out? What do you suggest?

I got Charlie, my Pom from the Humane Society in April of this year. He has only had an accident in the house once. He is 7 years old mind you. But he does not really seem to tell me when he needs to go out. I suggest you keep your puppy to a schedule. Accidents will happen but eventually he will know his scedule and will expect to be taken out at those times. Hopefully he will learn to tell you in between those walks that he should let you know if there is a problem. He might follow you, or go to the door or growl at you to let you know. Be patient. Children don't learn overnight either. One day you will just notice that (as my late husband Rod used to say) he has gotten his brains!

House Training

We bought our Vader at 2 months and now he is 8 months old and it took a long time to house train him. In the beginning, we used puppy pads it worked for a few days then it failed to work. So we decided to take him out every hour to relive himself in the same spot in our back yard. We made sure he knew that the back door was the access point to the back yard. After countless trips to the back yard he finally associated the back door and back yard as his bathroom :) we emphasized this with treats every time, I mean EVERY TIME, he would go out the back door as well as when he did his business. At 6 months he was trained. Now he runs to the back door and taps the glass with his front paws and looks back at us as to say "ok let me out, I have to go" I hope this was helpful! I love the name Pinot and your little boy is beautiful! Good luck!
