Male Pomeranian Mating Age?

I am going to visit my mother in just two weeks, and due to a medical emergency surgery, my father is now unable to watch my 6 1/2 month old male pom. We just got him a few weeks ago, and is scheduled to be fixed, but not until I return home. My mother has a female pomeranian, a few years old and also not fixed, not sure why, however we do not want puppies. I will be there about a week and a half and she is scared my dog will get hers pregnant. I really don't want to put him in a boarding kennel. I tend to not trust them nor do I have the money right now. Should I be worried? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.
