My 2 year old Pom wont eat dog food!

Are Poms picky eaters? He will not eat wet or dry dog food at all! I've made the mistake of feeding him people food since I got him 2 years ago. I'm so worried that he has something wrong with him. He doesn't have diarrhea & no vomiting. He drinks & urinates normal also. Overall, his activity level has decreased. He does eat people food still, but won't touch dog food. Could there be something wrong (heartworms/parasites)? He isn't as hyper as he used to be. Im so worried. Hes also not eating treats like he used to.

Pomeranians need to eat dry dog food that is made especially for miniature dogs. This is important because of their dental issues, and to get all the minerals they need.
NEVER give him what you are eating. Then he wont eat his own food, because he knows he will get to taste whatever you are eating later.
Put the bowl with dog food next to the water in the morning. Leave it there for 10min, and take it away. Do the same in the evening. If you do this every day for a week or two,I can promise you the dog will eat his food, but it takes time. You have to be consistant. One slip, and you have to start over again.
You can also bring dog food on walks and feed him outside. Throw dog food on the ground and he will most likely sniff his way around and eat whats there :)

I believe 'people food', if it's healthy of course, is better than dog food. We only ever feed our pom 'people food': chicken, rice, soups, veggies (he LOVES carrots and sweet peppers). The carrots are hard, so they'll help keep his teeth healthy. With dog food, it's full of preservatives, and that's something I'd rather not give my animals. My cat only ever eats our food too, and he's much healthier than all other cats I know.

And, of course tv adverts will tell you that brand dog food is the best food, they're trying to sell it to you after all.

You are going to have to make him eat the dog food. Mine gets table scraps all the time and that makes him stop eating dog food. People food is not good enough. He needs to eat dry food (for dental health reasons). Once they get spoiled it is hard to get them back on the dog food, but it is possible. Find a brand of dog food that he likes, give him only that, and eventually he will realize that he has no choice but to eat only that.
I like giving my Pom fruits and vegetables (ones that he will eat, like green beans, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots), though unfortunately many of the vegetables seem to plug up his butt so he tends to have trouble pooping afterwards. I limit the vegetables to only a few small pieces. He likes his dry food now that he has no choice but to eat that.

My dog doesnt eat dog food too. She doesnt like it. She's 3 mos old. She wants to eat everything that she sees youre eating.. Table Food. She loves vegies. and fruits. I dont allow her to eat chicken, fish, and meat. especially chocolates. the vet told me to make her used to eat dog food. especially that has lamb. though vegies are good, it's still better to eat dog food. :) dont worry, I think there's nothing wrong with your dog. :)
