My Pom cries and barks when i leave for work

Hello,

I have a 6 month old Pomeranian. I love him very much, but raising him was/is very hard. From the minute I got him, he was very attached to me. Patti training is very hard, he just doesn't want to listen, I tried almost everything, after 5 months i can say he is 70% Paddi trained, IF I remind him of course!!!!
My concern is, that when i leave the room he pees, when i use the restroom just for a minute he pees. When I go to work he barks and cries sooo much that my roommates can't handle that anymore.

I just don't know what to do, I read almost everything and tried to praise him, he has every kind of toy a puppy can wish for.
I give him alot of attention before work and after work.
I can't work in peace, always worried about him....I haven't been to the gym since 5 months, don't see friends anymore, I can't leave him alone, he barks and cries soo loud and he doesn't stop. I just don't know what to do anymore, I love him too much to give him away but won't survive financially without work, economy is very bad right now, I haven't worked for the past 6 month's....
Also he is a very picky eater, I baught him 5 different kind of dog food, he doesn't like any of them,....when I buy him treats, he eats them 1 max 2 times and then he doesn't like it anymore. He loves Human food, specially fruits, rice and turkey - I know it's a big NO NO. I read that a dog wont starve himself to death, well suprise suprise ...my puppy didn't touch his dog food for 2,5 days until i broke down and gave him chicken and turkey!!!!

I can accept him being a picky eater, I can accept picking up his pee and poo ( i hope I don't have 2 of course). But the barking and crying has to STOP. Please help me

Pom Crying
by: angela

My puppy KODA does the same thing. I cannot leave a room without him following me and I can't walk out of the house without him crying HORRIBLY & its screaches, not barks. He's almost most a year and I can't go anywhere without him, not even to the mailbox. I wonder if he'll grow out of it.

Distraction

My 3 year old pom did that for the longest time...unless he gets a beggin strip on the way out the door. He takes it and eats it with his fav. Bear when I leave. I MUST get out the door immediately. I started with a beggin strip & kong full of peanut butter or a treat. He would be so distracted by the time he got done he was ready for a nap. I do always leave the tv on bc poms are so alert, every little thing startles them, but I've got him used to hearing sounds all day he only freaks out with knocking (the knocking on tv too). The disadvantage is that he knows he's supposed to get it, so if I have to run outside I have to grab him. I also try switching him to carrots or apples sometime, but sometimes he's too good for those. As for the eating, most dogs don't eat everyday. I leave my poms food out all the time with about a half a cup and refill it maybe 3 times a week. I do give him some fruits & veggies. I always look it up first, and only give him what's good for me too.

Same Here

my 3 year old Pomeranian also loves to bark and cry as i leave the house but he has gotten a lot better lately. When you get home dont overwhelm your dog with kisses and hugs and get him/her excited cause that makes him await your return and dread your departure even more. I also placed a camera in my house to monitor my puppy while i was gone and i realized that he barked and howled for a good 2 hours straight but recently he has stopped so i hope this works for you.
