My pom is not herself; vet says she is fine

by Tomeko Wade

For the last five days my 4yr old pom has not been herself. She doesn't bark, wag her tail, lick, or want to go outside anymore. She is still eating and drinking. She cried out as if in pain three days ago. I took her to the vet and the couldn't find anything wrong. She was prescribed a 5 day supply of pain meds. My pom seemed better the first day but went right back to acting differently. It hurts to see her feeling so unhappy.

Is she fixed?
by: Kendra

I have a two year old unspayed female Pomeranian, and for about 4-5 days before and during her heat cycle she exhibits the same symptoms your describing, shes my mom works at a vet clinic and she has been deemed perfectly fine, just a little over emotional, we joke about it now being "her time of the month" even though it isn't every month just during her heat cycles, if your vet finds no physical explanation for her behavior perhaps this is something to look into if she hasn't been fixed ??

dog acting different
by: Mary

Something definately wrong inside if dog cried out in pain...pain pills will only mask the problem...maybe until it is too late. Take to a new vet...one that has never seen your dog before. They will usually give them a good look over the first time they come in. Good luck dear and don't delay....Mary
