my pomeranian with leg/hip injury

my 4 lb female pomeranian fell from the car window to the asphalt while the jeep was going about 2 mph. She has definately hurt her left hip but no swelling has occured. she is resting and the accident happened about 4 hours ago. She has drank water but has not eatten. I am not sure whether to offer her food. She is lying on the hurt side but cries when she puts weight on it. Do I need to take her for xrays? I have no money and have been unemployed for a little over a year.

Call the vet and explain an see if he thinks the dog should be x-rayed or if he think its OK to wait a day or two to see if it gets better. Tell the vet you are unemployed and unable to pay cash. Offer to help some times to clean animal pens for him or to clean floors or to walk dogs or whatever you can do to work off the bill. Often the vet would be willing to help you to make good on your bill. Offer to do whatever it takes to see the dog is taken care of. You don't want to wait too long ar it may have to suffer and if there is an injury it could get worse by waiting...good luck to you...Mary

It does sound like she broke something. My pom broke her elbow and it never looked swollen either, she just wouldn't stand on it. Maybe your vet will work something out as far as payment. She does need to have an xray if she isn't walking on it.
