New Pomeranian Puppy

We just bought our first pom. The breeder says she's 10 wks old. She is just adorable. She seems to have a normal heartbeat and breathing well. But she kinda quiet. I was exspecting her to be a lil more vocal. Granted we've only had her about an hour and we've only been in the car. She's very well behaved and has just sat in my lap the whole time. I figured she'd be more curious and want to adventure around. She's some what responsive and has yawned a a few times. I guess my question is ,Is this normal? I was just exspecting her to a little more lively. Were going to stop and get some food and treats if she doesn't eat she will be going to the vet.

Bonding silence, enjoy it.
by: karen

My three yonger poms came to me all together and at 6 to 8 weeks old. They were quiet for about 2 days and then WOE! A week later I had three noisy bouncy teething little fuzzy sharks chomping my bare feet every chance. My shadows all they are 10 years old now and the older 2 are 12 which makes 5 in all. Poms have 5 bones out of 5 on the little doggie barking scale. Enjoy the quiet. I think they watch and bond those first few days.

A Quiet Pom?
by: Pom Mom

I'll bet by now you are remembering that quiet little dog on the car ride home. Poms are very talkative little dogs as you have probably discovered. If I had a quiet Pom, I would consider myself rather lucky as mine bark their heads off at me when I come home from work. It is just their way.

My pom puppy
by: Anonymous

I just got a little pomeranian myself, the car ride home he whined at first because he was scared but for the rest of the ride was very quiet and just sat nicely in my lap. The first day and a half that he was home he was very sweet and gentle and quiet, but now that he is comfortable with me and the house he is very hyper and playful and vocal. Just give your puppy some time to feel comfortable :)

Our new little guy was quiet on the ride home when we got him but within an hour he was throwing up all over me..we have tried 3 more car rides and all end up with him getting sick..he gets quiet and then starts to drool and then barfs..poor little soul..he needs booster shots next week so plan on getting some doggy gravel to take as I hate to leave him at home. Congrats on the new one!

New Pom
by: Sharon

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!! Enjoy the solitude right now if your puppy is quiet.....! When our Pom hit three months old she learned to bark, and what a shrill bark she has! Your puppy just needs time to get aquainted with her new surroundings...she is probably missing her mom and sibblings. In a few days she will be more comfortable and you will notice the difference. Have fun!!

new in the house

Give the dog time...How did you feel the first time you went to a new job??? I bet you didn't bounce around like you knew the place either. Just let it be and give it time. It will be OK.
