One eye turned blue on my 7 year old Pom overnight.

My husband and I noticed that one eye on our 7 year old party Pom turned blue suddenly. We are so upset & concerned. We plan to call vet tomorrow, but my husbands father passed away today and so much is going on all at once. What could be causing the is eye problem?
