Pom 15 yrs old and now sleeps alot

I have a pom who's about 15 yrs old; in the last few months he sleeps a lot and doesn't hear very well. He had his annual checkup in August and the vet thought he had a heart murmur, but turned out he didn't. Otherwise he was in good health for his age. But sleeping a lot and not eating like he normally would has me worried. He hardly barks like he use too, and just seems to want to lay around and sleep. Are thse signs that his time with me will end soon? I'm making an appt. with his Vet ASAP. Let me know. Thanks so much.
