Pom acting strange

My seven year old Pom Has been staying in her bed all day and wont walk anywhere. I noticed the other day that she was Limping, I kept an eye on her and took her to the vet next day. She said could be a possible Luxating patella but put her on anti-inflamatories for a few days to see if it gets better. She was yelping when she tried to walk and would run off and hide somewhere. Now shes just not walking anywhere. Shes still eating and drinking ok. She can jump up and stand and walk a little but wont go more than a few steps. Dont know whats going on please give me some clues as to what it could be. Thanks Lorraine

Happy to say my Pom seems okay now after 4 weeks shes finally walking everywhere again and following me all over the place which use to annoy me but now I'm glad shes back to her old self.
The vet must have been right as she said it would take about 4-5 weeks to heal if it was soft tissue damage. Just need to keep her quiet for a bit longer and hopefully she'll be good as new.
Thanks for the comments.

I did take her for a second opinion and the vet did a thorough spine check and did some manipulation and massaged everywhere but seems to think she has some soft tissue damage in her hips and said to continue with the anti inflammatories and see how she goes. She doesn't seem to be in pain but is just sitting around in her bed most of the day. She will walk a few steps but only on grass or carpet. I'm starting to think she also has it in her head that hard floors are scary for some reason.

When she's taken by surprise she'll run off over the hard floor but when she stops and realises where she is she wont move from that spot. I'm quite confused. Thanks for your comments. I'm gonna take her back to the second vet and get an xray to rule out anything else ....

i hope it's not but...

my pom went through a similar situation (she is almost 4); she was shaking in pain and when i took her to the vet, we found out it was her spine. they think she jumped/fell off of something and had a bruise on her spine causing swelling that was causing her to drag her back legs. it could've been an extremely serious situation if it worsened (she would have needed emergency surgery), but luckily she recovered with a lot of r&r and prednisolone. we no longer allow her in the family room when we're not home (we think she fell off a chair in there), and all climbing up and down from furniture requires little doggy stairs! I really hope this is not the case, but you might want to get another opinion to make sure - i know my pom is my baby and i would hate for her to be hurting without knowing exactly what it is!

patella

Get a second opinion from another vet. If that is what it is it can be surgically fixed. My one dog had it done on both hind legs. One had to be done a second time till it "took" right but she is now ok for over 12 years after the surgery. Don't waste time. The dog is now in pain.
