Pom crying & biting at tail area

I'm worried about him. I have a 8 week old pom and yesterday he started crying and looked like he was trying to bite his tail or anus area not really sure which one. Well today he is crying even louder and he just looks so sad and I don't know what is wrong with him. I don't know if fleas could do this to him or if his tail is broken? I cleaned him down there , he has no swelling or anything no redness. I just don't know whats wrong with him. Could anyone help me?

fleas

My best guess would be fleas, nasty little things. They like the tail area.

Have his anal glands checked soon. Ours had a similar problem. They need to be expelled occasionally.

possible things

Have you examined him down there...usually if you part the hair with your fingers you can see a flea or two crawling..also if you see black specks like pepper that is probably flea poop. Take some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and touch the black specks...if it turns reddish on the q-tip that is a sure sign its flea dirt. If that is the case go to the vet and he can give you a pill that will kill the fleas within a few hours...but then you gotta de-flea your house and dog beds and everything...I called in a bug man for the carpet and furniture and I cleaned all the doggie beds and blankets by laundering in hot soap water.

Next possibility...is your dog pooping regularly? Maybe he is constipated and it hurts him if it can't come out. If that is the case you need to take him to the vet and he digs the poop out of him. I have seen our neighbors dog wail and cry something pitiful and painful with that problem...all night long till they took it to the vet in the morning....don't delay..the dog could be in great pain.
