Pom indoor pet gate

We have 2 Poms and would like to give them a little more room to roam while we are at work during the day. In our house we have a small half bath that is connected to a hallway and we would like to put in a pet gate on that hall to allow them an area to move around (rather than a pet crate all day). We have purchased 3 different pet/baby gates and after installing we tested them to see how they worked. Every one our 3 yr old was able to put her head through the openings in the gate and we are worried she might get her head stuck while we are gone :(. Does anyone know of a pet gate/brand that is built for small pets? Something that has a smaller space between each part but still has a gate we can open so we don't have to step over?
