Pom mix chewing up linoleum floor when we leave

How do I stop my pom mix age 9-10 months from chewing up the linoleum floor when we are gone? I just left to go to get my haircut and was gone 1 1/2 hours. I come back and she got out of her caged area and was chewing the linoleum floor by the door. She has done this once before and was punished for it. I thought she knew not to do it because it has been 2 months. There were no holes in the linoleum where she tore it up but about 2" to the left there is a little hole. Please help, I am unemployed and only my fiance is working. We don't have the money to replace the floors. Any ideas are welcome, I just need to get her to stop this before it gets worse and he wants to give her away. She is my baby and I love her to death. Please please help!

If she does this only when left alone I will assume that she may be experiencing separation anxiety. Check the internet under dog/anxiety or dog separation anxiety. Good Luck! Also, keep in mind that spouses come and go but your dog will love you forever, no matter what.

go to pet smart and get the dog/cat repellant spray. don't use it as a spray though - spray some on a paper towel, and rub it right where she's been chewing. we used this stuff to train our boys not to get under the furniture.

Mine used to do that but when she quit doing that she started to pee on the floor or worse on the living room carpet when we go away and leave her. The only thing that will stop them is to crate them when you are gone. Once we went to visit my brother in law and didn't take the dog into the house. We were in sight on the porch where she could see us but she still was so angry that she tore up the floor mat and this was a new car. She is a small dog. A chichuachua-rat terrior mix. She is gentle otherwise but just gets crazy when left alone. We got a companion dog for her. A pomeranian mix and that dog is fine but the other one still pees on the floor...not EVERY time but often. She hates the crate and would chew her teeth til broken on the door so we don't put her in anymore. But the carpet gets a lot of cleaning. If yours don't break he teeth on the crate I would crate her when you go away. Good luck to you....Mary
