Pom pregnant at 8 months old

How bad will it be for my dog to be pregnant at 8 months old? We did not want her to get with dog next door. She is white with reddish brown spots and he is solid black. Both are poms, but I am afraid she is too small to carry puppies.

TOO YOUNG!!
by: Anonymous

Your female is way to young to breed, whelping the litter could kill her. Also Pom's are NOT supposed to be 15+ lbs according to AKC they are supposed to be between 3-7 lbs. I studied for 3 years before producing my first litter of Poms, there is a lot to learn, it can be even harder breeding these small dogs compared to larger dogs, they can have many complications!!! You need to have your Pom spayed, and during the spay they can abort the pregnancy as well, this could save her life. If she is already pregnant you better be bringing her into the vet to be examined, and have your vet on standby because more than likely in the middle of the night you will be bringing her in for an emergency c-section.

Talk TO YOUR VET FIRST!
by: Sheila

Please, these little Poms rip their lil bodies up trying to have babies. It's not natural for them since the small Pomeranian's are force bred,(normal Pomeranian's are over 15 + lbs and larger dogs. The small breeds are man made for our pleasure, but not good for home breeding. A Pommie can have more then one pup which is the danger zone, and 8 months is simply TOO young. PLEASE talk to your vet first, good luck, God bless.
PS depending on HIS size,it could kill YOUR dog!

Pregnant at 8 months

My pom is 6 months and she still looks and acts like a baby! Is your pom already pregnant? Because I would try to keep her away from that guy until next heat.
