Pom with broken leg

Does anyone else have a pom that has broken his or her leg? Mine has and I am trying to get an idea of what to expect after the cast is removed.

my pom marley ran under my feet when he was 6 months old and got stepped on accidentaly his dr he had when he was at the petshop tried to tell me the only way to fix it was surgery which aside from the 600.00 bill we had got for the xrays cast and meds it would cost 2600.00 to fix i found a dr who has been around for a long time and he re casted his leg for 35.00 and told me that he should be fine in 6 to 8 weeks my husband removed the cast carefully at first he yelped he wasnt used to standing on it. It will be sore for a few weeks but it will get strength back and he will be fine and even grow muscle back. mine is fine now he lifts it occassionaly but all and all hes ok my advice take him to a dr that has been in practice a while they know more then the new ones that just have $ signs in their eyes when you walk in

How is your Pom doing today? Mine had a broken front left elbow that happened almost 3 months ago and is still limping. We had her in a cast for nearly 8 weeks and are now doing rehab but it's slow going. Is this typical? I really hope she doesn't limp always.

Pom accident
by: Anonymous

My pom is crazy. When she was 4 months old she was having one of her daily episodes, and was tearing around the house at blinding speeds. She startled the cat who began running and she immediately gave chase. Our cat ran and jumped up the couch and off the back. Unfortunately our pom was able to follow. She just couldn't pull off the landing on the hardwood floor. She suffered a hairline fracture and a sprain to her right rear knee/leg but was running around playing a few days later on 3 legs. She hurt her other knee/leg in another accident a few months later. She is almost 2 years old now and hasn't gotten hurt since.

Broken leg

Thanks for your comments, Kristen.
How did your baby break his leg?
Mine was jumping up and down on hardwood floor. It was her front left elbow. She's been in a cast for 3 weeks now and has two more weeks to go.
I'm so afraid she'll do it again because she never stops!
She is my first pom and the funniest, most loving dog I've ever known!!

Pom with broken leg

My Pom Vader broke his leag at 5 months old - the cost to have the cast set was about 200.00. To have it removed was about 50.00. If you cannot afford it, I am sure there are places that can remove the cast for a donation to their organization. Good luck.
