My 12 year old little girl has been coughing a lot lately. Sounds like she has fur balls. We had her ex ray for a collapsed trachea and that was not it. Any suggestions ? Laurie

Cough by: Steve
Hi,
My 7 year old pom was in perfect health and then would have an occasional cough (fur ball cough good description). Several vets (since I didnt have a regular) said over and over it was normal and no problem.
Then one day he coughed continuosly. Had to take him to a new, never used vet. Found he had advanced heart failure. Placed on meds/strick diet and now is doing very well. Heart failure was caused by cushings disease (silent killer) and if it wasnt for a good vet, he would have died.
Don't let anyone, including a vet, con you. Pay attention to what you see and your instincts are telling you. I wish I did.........

I use the hairball dry food for our cats because they tend to throw up a lot and it's always hairballs. Also I make certain I keep them brushed and this cuts down on the hair they get in their throats when cleaning themsleves. It's just a suggestion that may work for dogs as well.

pomeranian coughing by: jane sousa
Hi, Maybe she has kennel cough, is she around alot of dogs? My 17 yr old suddenly developed a strong cough turned out she had Chronic respiratory disorder and was put on bronchi dilators three times a day for life. she was pretty much fine after that. Hope your pup only has kennel cough though!
