Pomeranian Hair Flattening in Females

Good evening

We already have a male pom and adore him very much. We are looking at getting him a companion, a female (NOT for breeding).

We are very careful when choosing a puppy, but we have identified that some 'female mummies' have lost their fluffy look and their fur lies extremely flat. Is this due to breeding and having litters? Or are we being 'fobbed' off.

We have been looking for answers to this but to no avail.

Thank you

Female poms will lose their hair after their heat cycles and also when they have pups. Mine used to lose hers after she was in heat.. and just as it grew back good she'd go in heat again.. I got her spayed and it solved it.. It's the fluctuating hormones that do it. I've had 7 female poms. All were spayed and all fluffy.
The coat also depends on the bloodlines.. Some will have more coat than others.. If your dog has a good coat.. being female shouldn't matter if you get her spayed..
