Pomeranian has hair loss on her back

Hello, I have a two year old, female pomeranian, who has hair loss on her back. I believe it's from fleas, though she doesn't have a flea infestation. She's had hair loss in the past in the same area, that cleared up when I started to feed her better quality food. The hair loss is near her lower back. Her hair has a little odor to it, which she also had in the past.

My dog is a very picky eater, and only likes wet food. I'm thinking of trying her on dry food again. I'm thinking of trying brewers yeast to help control fleas. Has anyone had any luck using brewers yeast?

Your dog could be super sensitive to flea bites.
They make some dogs really itch and get very seepy skin.
I groom dogs for a living and i feel so sorry for dogs like this. These dogs really need a topical flea med, like Advantage, or they just suffer and get worse and worse. Its like us having very bad poison ivy. Some will itch till they are bald and bloody. Its so easy to cure, but for some reason some owners just let it go. If I itched that bad I would want some help.

Hair loss and blackening skin.

My Pomeranian has had hair loss and blackening skin since she was about 1-2 years old. The only thing that I have found to help her was a product called "malaseb". You could only get it at a vets office. Now they have quit making it.
I have had luck with another product that you can get at a feed store. It is called "Horeseman's Dream Fung-a-way. It is a topical fungicide solution.

Good luck with your poms.

I suggest you don't waste your time trying other remedies that may not fix the root of the problem. Consult your veterinarian. Also, be carefull of too much wet food for dogs need to have dry food to keep their teeth healthy and strong. You don't want a cure pom with no teeth.
