I need some advice,
My Pom is 8 months old loves to eat everything in sight, last week when i brought him home from a friends house he was very lethargic could barely stand his eyes were rolling to the back of his head, his head was bobbing, i thought he was going to die on me. We rushed him to the vet - told me he injested something hallucinogenic. I agreed to give him charcoal to induce vomitting which he did, we took him home ($250 later) to monior him he was just fine the next morning. Now one week later......SAME THING!?? only I found him this way in the morning, and it was not as bad as the first time. Could this mean something more?

PLEASE HELP

13 year old Pom not able to stand
by: Anonymous

I have a 13 year old Pom. Just here recently she has had issues standing even for a minute to eat. She will stand and try to eat and then just fall over on her left side. It is always the left side. When she tries to get up after laying down she has a had time getting her feet under her. I am beginning to be very concerned.

could be epilepsy
by: karen

I have a little pommie Widdybear who has epilepsy. He overcomes the sezure in aboy 5 minutes and I just hold him in bed wrapped in covers until it goes away. Sometimes they pee and poo during one. They don't really know what has happened but when its over they like you there. Herbs help. I give mine [7 drops omega oil, 1/8th of an Acidophilus pill-{1 million enzyme}, 1 drop Coral Calcium-{every other day}, and a little sprinkle of Brewers yeast. All on a piece of Balogna once a day. Coral Calcium every other day. Widdybear does not have as many sezures now.

My pom has epilepsy and her daytime seizures are similar to what you describe..doc said reduce stress, watch blood sugar(SMALL snacks outside of mealtime), plenty of rest, keep hydrated.
Those things have greatly reduced the frequency, and duration of the seizures...good luck!

Hypoglycemia
by: Julieann

I am so sorry that you are going through this with your beautiful puppy, Leilo! I have 2 poms, brother & sister, about 9 months old. My little girl has had 2 episodes of what would look as though she is "drunk". Her head is wobbly and she has trouble walking. It happened once last month and agian this past weekend. I think it may be "Hypoglycemia" which is low blood sugar. I was warned about this when I adopted them. It is common in poms and my little girl is very hyperactive so I think this may be the cause of her episodes. I plan to discuss this with my vet.

I thought this could be what is happening with Leilo? Do you have Nutrical? It is a high calorie vitamin supplement. I gave this to my girl both times and think it may have helped. I would recommend the Puppy Nutrical not the regular Nutrical. I think they like the taste better. Here is a link to some information on Hypglycemia: http://toppickkennels.com/?p=86 (copy and paste it into your browser) I hope this info helps you!
