My Pomeranian is 5 months old now, a male puppy. I take him for regular walks but he doesn't do anything outside. Even when he really needs to go, he'll wait till we get home and does it on his pad. He sniffs other dogs wee but doesn't seem to understand he can go outdoors.
I have been researching this myself and I am trying another suggestion of using a litter box...

I have a 12 week old male Pomeranian. He does not like using the bathroom outside. I've purchased to Pee Pads that smell like grass but he practically refuses to use them. He will do his business right next to the pad....everytime he uses the bathroom i have to pick him up run him to the pad. He just sniffs it and runs away, and tries to do his business again elsewhere. Its becoming very difficult. He is so small i dont want to spank him..what should i do??

My pom was like that also for about her first year!..I think the grass was scary for her..She would only use her potty pads..Then one day, she went outside and I praised her for it, and she's been fine ever since..She'll still use her potty pads in the house, but I don't have a problem w/ her not going if we are outside now..Just takes her forever to find just the right spot to go is all..She's very picky..She will not go in a spot where other dogs have gone..She has to pick her own clean spot, and if it's cold outside, it's a pain for me to wait on her to find just that right spot..
