Pomeranian with No fur

I have a Toy Pom.
When we had him groomed the last time the groomer cut his hair shorter then usual as we requested.
It has been 5 months now and his fur has grown back only on his legs, tail and belly area but his back and sides are just as short as the day he was clipped 5 months ago.
Has there been some kind of permanent damage done as a result cutting it too short?
He looks horrible!

Having the same issues
by: Cecilia

My male blue merle pom of one year was shaved down all over to 1in length, he was a big puff ball with a beautiful thick coat. We are in SOCAL and this past summer temperatures hit 120 degrees, i thought I was doing him a favor its been about 5months now his hair has grown back somewhat on the legs, and very little on the chin, along the neck only individual hairs spread out far apart.. He looks hidious, im so sad. Biggest mistake ever .

I had to shave my poms hair when I rescued him a year ago because he was severely matted. There are some black spots (he is/was black) where it is growing but 90% of him except for these spots and his legs is not. He is also 11 now so it may have to do with age? I am trying to find ways to help it grow in also...have been giving him baths every two weeks and brushing daily to help stimualte curcualtion, and feeding him high quality food. I know they can have thyroid issues which could be something to have your vet check.

Pom hair

A Pomeranian has a double coat a think undercoat and a long top coat bi shaving you can screw up the coat it may come back normal, may come back corse, may take a VERY long time but it will come back, or like my sisters Pomeranian (she shaved him) didn't come back at all it has been 2 years and it's still as short as it was when he got shaved. But that is pretty rare to happen, my fiancée mom shaved her pom and he did like your pom grew on his legs and tail and finally after 8 months his hair started growing. I guess your just going to wait I'm pretty sure it will be fine.
Owner of poms all my life and currently have 2 poms.
