pomeranians & seizures

by Mike Flannery
(Baltimore)

11 year old pom, normal size, but 20 pounds. Once a week has spasms or seizures (full body). She'll fall over, lasts for 2 minutes, then she's fine. Normally energetic, runs and plays ball a lot, good appetite. No signs of pain or discomfort.

seizures in my pom
by: Anonymous

My 10 yr.old pom started having seizures. Took to the vet, pretty normal they said. Switched from Purina Dog Chow to Little Bites and seizures have stopped. Switched back temporarily, and had another one. Went back to Little Bites food and the seizures stopped again. Someone said could be too much protein in Dog Chow after they redid formula.

Vet visit
by: Lena

Dear Mike,
My girlfriends pomeranian had a seizure, she took him to the vet and he has Epilepsy. The vet gave her some tablets for a 3 - 7 day course for the Pomeranian, he was 1 year and 2 months, so not sure if there is a difference with the age. He is now very well and no longer takes the tablets. As you described your Pom he too was active, great appetite and all. his other sympton though was that he wasnt sleeping much. I hope that your Pom gets better real soon. all the best
