poms digestion problem

My miniture pom started acting strange 3 days ago. He showed all the same symptoms they exp. when they have a fever. He's about 5 yrs old,& a finicky eater. I got him from the shelter last X-mas. He was underweight. The fever made his eyes start to glaze over & he appeared a little out of it. I gave him a half-tab of the antibiotics the vet gave me, Amforal. My pom seems to b back to normal as long as I continue w/ the Amforal. He's been on one tab, ( a half every 12 hrs.), for the past 3 days now. I believe that all of these symptoms r related to his diet. I've been giving him a little brn rice & veges all cut up very small, & I add to that his crunchies, (crushed up) & some boiled hotdog, or chix cut very sm. His b m's are not daily now, (every other day, or so). Sometime he yelps, but not since he's been on the Amforal. What's the very best foods to feed a pom that probably has pancreatitis? Unfortunately I can't afford any large vet bills at this time. I would greatly appreciate any dietary suggestions that you can give me!
Thank you,
MJ

Try to look on-line for more information about pancreatitis on dogs and see what the search yields. Also check pancreatitis and diet. See if holistic foods help with the symptoms. My neighbor has a dog that was experiencing seizures. He changed his diet to a dry holistic food and says his seizures have lessen. Holistic food is more expensive and poms are picky eaters. I have bought several holistic and high quality dry food for my pom but he seems to prefer the cheaper. So I give him half of the one he likes on one side of the plate and half of the holistic on the other. I don't mix it cause he won't eat it mixed together. Good luck with your dog!

Pom food, for picky poms!

I too cannot afford a large vet bill and also have a picky pom eater. My vet along with other vets give our dogs white chicken, consomme, rice, plain yogurt, some beef, veggies - mixed with the meat or steamed, oatmeal mixed with the meat and veggies, basically anything we eat that is good for us. Nothing obviously greasy, deep fried. I guess we need to use our common sense when it comes to feeding our poms. My pom weighs 6 pounds, he is 6 yrs old, suffers from anal gland pain and has seizures. Thank God the seizures are not often - not frequent enough to call for medication, as the medication is very hard on their liver. I hope this helps.
