Potty Training my 1 year old male Pomeranian

Hi all! I'm loving all the info here so thought I'd ask a question as well. Our male pomeranian is a little over 1 year old (August) and he is still doing his business in the house. He's great about going #2 outside but we've got polka dots all over the carpet from #1. We have moved twice since we've had him so I can't say it is not our fault that he has not been properly trained, but can he still be trained at a year old? What is the best method? We are getting a 6 week old female pom (who is the cutest darn thing since Cheeto) next week so we could start the process together. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Tinkle Belt

I purchased a couple of tinkle belts online and they work GREAT! My male pom wears them when he is in the house and rarely marks while wearing them since when he does wet in them, he just goes on his belly and he doesn't like having a wet belly. This has been a life saver for him!!!

WORSE!

Well...things have actually gotten worse. We caught Cheeto "marking" in the house yesterday. HELP! What do we do? He is the first male dog I have ever owned so I do not know the first thing about stopping this. Is neutering my only option?

I'm afraid you are in for trouble. Your female is going to smell the spots of your male and will pee at them in the house. I don't think there is a chance of training at such an age for your male. Good luck. Write back on here in time and let us all know how it works.
