Spencer 3 year old pomeranian/Sheltie mix

I must say I am just stunned at his personality! I never DREAMED He would be just the most amazing dog I've ever loved...He is just perfect in every way! His personality, well, lets just say he loves to play so very much that we have to take toys away just so he will settle down and "DRINK his Water". of course we give them back but he is so obsessed with them?? never seen that with any of my pets either? But he is so in love with them...
He has only been with us 8 days as of today and he acclimated to us within hours of bringing him to his HOME last Sunday.
He's a whopping Lbs. 8oz and has So much energy. I must walk him 6 times a day...not just a quickie walk I'm talking 45 minutes walking him. He is just a burst of bubbling energy with a prance like he is the Mayor of our neighborhood...too cute!!!
Each morning for that MORNING walk when he needs to GO, he starts off in a fast walk then within seconds he is READY to RUN-fast!!
I am working on training him to just slowwww down...but all in all he is as sweet and loving, the Funniest personality I mean every little thing he does he turns into FUN!! He is quick SMART..meaning he gets it when ya tell him a command...I am just in AWE of him!!
And for being 3 yrs old & a rescue he is so easy to train...he is crate trained which I love...But I only place him in there, well actually he GOES in there at 10 pm like he knows when I start shutting down lights, saying good night to our son with a hug n kiss, my husband is usually awake working till midnight...anyhow...he just gets one of his toys from his wicker basket and takes it in the crate with him where he will snuggle up get settled and he is just content as can be till I awake at 5 a.m.
Then he knows its time for mom to take him out for that morning pee pee...where he just walks past Chester our 11 year old cat that is SLOWLY getting used to another pet in the home...not happy but getting used to it.....QUICK INFO on Chester: he Too was another rescue..he was dumped by the side of the road at 5 WEEKS old as I was jogging at 7 a.m. one cold January morning IN FLORIDA he jogged behind me 5 blocks to my home...where he has stayed....and YES another BEST CAT I have ever owned!!! everyone loves him EVEN the ones that AREN'T cat people....ok back to Spencer...
I would like to know anyone that may be reading this if they know an answer to this question....Each time I take him on a walk he has his Nose so close to the ground I think he may stump it-lol What is he sniffing for?? I talking on the concrete...is it just where "Other dogs" have been and he is smelling that? or is that something his mix breed is supposed to do?? My Pom we had for 10 years did not do that...he just pranced on his walk did his business and that was that?
I have read everything on Shelties & the AKC Pom Who was in our family from 1993 to 2003 and he never did this so I am assuming it may be a Sheltie thing or a plain old ordinary DOG thing?
To sum up this long story of Spencer...My love for Zack who was so loved for 10 years It took us 8 almost 9 yrs to get over the loss of him and to finally realize we are ready to Give our love to another...I searched for a very very long time, many visits to shelters, many local pet rescues....where ya wanna take them all home...I finally went on line to search for Pomeranian adoptions/rescues I submitted my email and criteria and with in a month I received an email from www.adoptapet.com which fsangels was linked up with and there HE WAS ...the photo I attached was the one that GOT ME!!! I read all about how he was rescued from a kill shelter and how he was neutered, vaccinated, Heart Worm negative just basically ready for a home...
Which he HAS and we are convinced zack picked him for us...he knew we had the love,dedication, devotion to give to our forever FAMILY member and he was RIGHT!!!
To all thinking of getting a pet...PLEASE PLEASE consider adopting one first....you have NO IDEA how much they will love you???
