"Throwback" Pomeranian?

My pomeranian is a little bigger than normal

So when i got my pom they said he was only supposed to be 8lbs. But i don't think that's possible because he is now 2 years old and he weighs 23 lbs. He doesn't look like the tiny little pomeranians. He is taller and bigger. I read something online about a "throwback pomeranian" which looks identical to my Jackson.

Throwbacks

Jackson was supposed to be 10 pounds and now he is 21 lbs. People always question me about his breed. I keep telling them that he is a Purebred Pomeranian and they disagree with me, but I tell me that I think I would know what my own dog is.

throwbacks

It is so wonderful to know that I am not the only person who owns a larger pom. Everywhere I go people say that my puppy is not a pom because he is too big. He is 5 months old and weighs 10 pounds, already. The breeder that I purchased him from said his mom weighs 7lbs and the dad weighs 6lbs and he is pure bred.

Ya Jackson is very independent but is extremely protective of me. He is bigger but like they say bigger is better. I love my little man.

oversize poms

Always look at the parents of the puppy your are buying. I insist that all my pom lovers look at the parents when purchasing their puppy. Poms are actually bred down from spitz's. I always get stair step sizes from my mommas. My 2nd pom I purchased is 17 pounds more like a spitz. thanks Texaspartypomz

My big-boned Pom

We rescued our pom, little miss annie, when she was 3 years old and expected she was a mix because she was larger than usual (22 lbs). So we decided to get one of those DNA kits from PETCO to see what she might be mixed with. The test was a simple swab insider her mouth. After mailing it away, we learned she was mixed with a terrier. Other than her size and a few little curly cues behind her ears, she is the quintessential pom with her playful and loving personality. Throwback or terrier, doesnt matter to us. :) We love Miss Annie the way she is.

Throwback Pom

My dog looks just like yours, and he too is about 25 pounds. He acts very "wild" he is not a cuddle dog and is very independent. He hunts mice and like to be outside. I just read about throwback poms. I think Tye is. He is awesome but not even close to my other pom, who is 4 pounds!

THROWBACK POMS

My Pom was supposed to be 7 lbs, he is 4mons and already 71/2 lbs! His personality, though is completely Pom like! I don't care how big he gets, I absolutely adore him! I also have a 61/2lbs female pom. She is learning to love him too! Long live THROWBACKS!!!
