Tinkerbell - Jackaranian

by Jenni
(Manchester, England)

I have been to my local rescue centre today and was fortunate enough to be able to have the pick of a litter of Jackaranians! I have read up what information there is by doing a google search but would be very grateful for any words of advice on how best to house train my new baby. I will post pics as soon as i pick her up next week.

Thank you Mary, quite afew people have suggested using a crate to train her as they have used them to train their dogs, but they all have larger breeds of dogs so i was unsure wether to use one. I have purchased one today and put in a blanket and small bed as i read somewhere that all the area had to be covered so they didnt mess? I am so excited to get her now. I have my final home check and interview with a lady from the rescue centre in the morning, fingers crossed i will be aproved for adoption and will beable to pick tinkerbell up on saturday! :-)

training
by: Mary

We house trained ours by keeping him in a cage for awhile. Do not allow alot of room ...put in a partition so the dog doesn't have alot of room because they say the dog does not want to do-do or pee in his bed area. So keep him confined and take him outside fairly often to pee till he gets the hang of it. It doesn't seem nice to keep them caged but it really didn't take long for him to learn pee and do-do- goes outside. Then you can leave him outside of the cage altogether if you wish. Ours still wanted to sleep in there at night so we just left the door open on it at that time. Eventually he came to sleep on our bed along with our other dog and then we removed the cage from the house altogether. Good luck...Mary
